Welcome to Change It Up Editing and Writing Services! I’m Candace Johnson, the entire team at Change It Up Editing and Writing Services. Yes, I believe in personal attention for my authors, and if you read the comments on the Testimonials page, I believe you’ll get a good sense of just how important that personal interaction is to me as well as to the success of every project I edit.

If you have a great idea but don’t know how to organize it into a book or article, or if you’ve written a draft and want to be sure it is well ordered and doesn’t drift off somewhere it shouldn’t, I can help you! If you and everyone you know has read your manuscript and you’re ready to send it out into the world, I can offer you an opportunity to take it to the next level toward success. If you are working on a nonfiction book proposal and need some help to make sure an agent and editor will sit up and take notice, I can help you create and polish it.

As a professional editor, I have an objective viewpoint and will be honest with you about the many ways you can improve your work—yes, even when you think it’s perfect, you’ll be surprised at the things I will suggest that never occurred to you.

My background is in traditional publishing, so I know what readers want to read and what publishers want to publish. And I believe in establishing a collaborative and supportive relationship with the authors I work with.

I truly appreciate how you continue to provide such amazing support for me during this process beyond the immensely helpful copyediting you do.” —Laura Marie Durant

There are many different types of editing help available to you, whether you are an indie author or have decided to pitch your idea to an agent or traditional publisher. These include developmental editing, substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, manuscript evaluation, and proposal development, and they all offer value to you as a writer at different stages of your work. Let’s discuss your vision, and together we will determine your best course of action. Call me today at 954-348-1963 or write to me at cyjohnson5580 (at) gmail (dot) com. I can’t wait to get started!

“I cannot thank you enough for all you have done to improve this book. I am a creative thinker but not a perfectionist. Looking back now I shudder to think how this would have turned out if I had not teamed up with you to make it the best it could be. My confidence in the content has grown with each round of editing.”  —Rev. Chris Holmes, PCC

    1. You are so sweet! I’m glad you like the posts, and if you know of anyone looking for professional editing at reasonable prices, I hope you’ll send them my way–and thanks! Love your blog, too!

  1. Great blog! I’m happy I found your blog, I’m a die hard fan of proof readers and with my degree in English language (would get a Masters soon) I still make silly mistakes! Would be a constant visitor at yours, might even send a bulky manuscipt too! Cheers. 🙂

  2. Thanks for dropping by my site and blog. I’m a big believer in professional editing and have commented many times about my disappointment that so many Indie Authors have not gotten their manuscripts edited properly before publishing. I’ll definitely be looking for beta readers and an editor once my novels are ready.

    1. Thanks for stopping by and for your comments, Karen. For me, the best part about working with indie authors is knowing that the editing I do for them will make a huge difference in the professionalism of their books. Lucky me–I love what I do!

  3. Thanks for following my blog.
I support the idea of editor-writer collaboration, and it’s wonderful to find someone willing to help with your work personally before publishing.

    1. Thanks Cat! I’m glad you’re finding value in the information I post, and please let me know if there are any subjects you’d like to see me write about. You’ve been a great inspiration for several past blog posts!

      1. How about post on how to tackle the ‘big issues’ in editing? When you know something just isn’t right, but aren’t sure how to tackle it. Any common solutions that you know of for situations like this?
If I keep giving you ideas for sharing your experience I might run out of post material myself! Lol!
        Cheers, Cat x

  4. An amazing idea for a blog. Very helpful for writers working on a novel, and hoping to publish someday (like me). Glad I stumbled upon this one 🙂
